We spend countless hours looking for those hidden gems and outstanding products to share with all of you. What could be better than passing all this knowledge and “hard work” onto our customers and formally rank our 5 favorite wines and spirits for the upcoming colder months.
And just so you don’t think we just pulled these names out of a hat, here is how we scored our products…
Value – Can’t pick all $100 bottles of wine. Does the bottle we pick reflect the price tag it comes with or is it even better? Good way to give all of our products an even playing field
Quality – Goes without saying overall quality of the product, taste, care put into making a perfect wine or spirit
Bottle – Sounds silly put a big part of the “experience” of our favorite beverage is the bottle it comes in. The label, weight & shape of the bottle, overall quality of the package.
Our panel consists of the owner, store manager, main inventory manager, and occasionally customers wondering what we’re doing sampling 30 different bottles of wine!

Masso Antico Primitivo
Masso Antico Primitivo, with its ruby red color and its complex bouquet, is characterized by intense and fine aromas that go from mature fruit to spicy notes. The grapes used for Masso Antico Primitivo are grown using the vine training method known as “Alberello”, a traditional system of the cultural and oenological heritage of Apulia. The rigorous hand-picking is followed by a meticulous selection of the grapes, dried on the plants, thanks to the sun and the mild sea winds. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for about 6 months. The result is an outstanding red wine.

Mi Campo Blanco:
Mi Campo is known for using 100% Blue Weber agave, and its blanco tequila is made with unique production methods like squeezing the agave pinas instead of crushing them, and using stone ovens for cooking. It is then double distilled in copper stills and aged for a short time in French oak Chardonnay barrels, which gives it subtle notes of coconut, almonds, and vanilla.

Planteray 5 Year Rum
Plantation Barbados 5 years is a blend of rum from Barbados, the birthplace of rum. This blend ages first in Bourbon casks in its native tropical setting before crossing the sea to Chateau Bonbonnet in France. There, in small oak barrels primarily used to age Pierre Ferrand cognac, the rum continues its journey of aging. Beautiful amber gold. A true bajan rum with complex and well-balanced notes of ripe tropical fruits and vanilla, evolving to delicate hints of white peach and coconut.

Boatyard Gin
The ‘double’ in Boatyard Double Gin refers to our distillation process and a purist’s approach of placing juniper at both the start and end of the process. The juniper first rests in wheat spirit in the still along with other organic botanicals. Our final spirit then flows through juniper once again in our vapour chamber. This double contact method, which Dutch genever distillers would term ‘dubbel gebeide genever’, results in a more pronounced juniper flavour.
